Description
Two strands of Mule Spun fiber, the Mule Spinner 2-Ply 100% Wool yarn is our premier light weight yarn. It is made from fine, Canadian grown, Rambouillet wool. It can be used in knitting machines, for hand knitting, or in weaving for warp or weft. The Sheep Shade colourway is created by blending natural sheep's wool colours. The Standard Dyed solid and heather colourways are created from fibre dyed with industry standard textile dyes.
Price is per 4oz skein.
There are approximately 198m or 216 yd per 112 gms / 4oz skein. For knitting, we recommend 4mm to 5mm needles.
This is a Light to Medium weight yarn according to the Craft Yarn Council's Yarn Standard. You can find their simple guide to yarn weights here.
Please note: due to the small batch nature of our yarns, colour pooling can occur (though we work very hard to avoid it). When knitting large swatches of a single colour, we recommend introducing a new skein of yarn slowly by alternating skeins row for row.
100% Canadian Wool processed at Custom Woolen Mills, Alberta, Canada.

I ordered this yarn in the #01 Natural White, #25 Slate Blue, #110 Forest Green Heather, #112 Yellow Heather and #16 Red with the intention of knitting up thick socks. When I received the yarn today it made me regret I didn't order more. The colours are so beautiful and vibrant. My toes are going to be toasty this winter.

I love this wool. I made my grandson a pair of socks in orange with this wool, I knit it with one strand of baby wool/nylon and the socks are gorgeous. My son LOVES them, they are his favourite of all the socks I have knit for his little guy. I bought the Annie's Knee High Socks Kit and I am anxious to get to making myself a pair of socks with this lovely wool.

I love real wool, but you always wonder if it will be scratchy for those sensitive folks on your handmade gift list - this wool is soft enough to be next to skin and takes dye beautifully. I would call it Aran, my favourite gauge for it is 4sts per inch. So happy to have such high quality right in our own Alberta backyard!

I am in love with this yarn! I ordered the #2 Shade. It is so lovely to work with.

This yarn has a lovely Rambouillet feel to it and will likely soften up once washed. A bit stiff to work with.
However each of the two skeins I purchased had a few knots in, approx 3-4 each so I was not impressed with the spinning for that reason

Bought Midnight Blue and Mustard while I was visiting friends in Edmonton. Making Saltwater Trigger Finger Mitts with them and love this yarn SO much! Best combo of rugged, 100% wool, and softness for these mitts I've found so far!

I'm just enamoured with the feel of this yarn! It's incredibly strong and firm, perfect for tapestry weaving. The felty texture of it through my fingers keeps making me think of velvet. My only disappointment is the wine red heather is not as vibrant as in the photo (which, fair, that's to be expected sometimes when you order online), it's more of a dark rust red. Still a lovely colour though, and it's weaving up beautifully.
They even included a lil thingamabob in my order, a hook gadget from a sock knitting machine! I love lil thingamabobs!

Very comfortable wool, and surprisingly it doesn't pill! Some colours fade a bit in the sun over time (the blue hat I made my husband has) but the wine red sweater I made looks beautiful after many years.
