Last year we partnered with Slow Food Calgary to celebrate the summer solstice; Slow Food got the BBQ spit turning out here at the mill and delicious local food, music, and fun was shared by all. It was such a great time that we're doing it again! On June 24th, join us for the 2017 rendition of Slow Food meets Slow Fibre - a Secret Farm Picnic.
This year, chef Jason Barton-Browne from Hayloft Restaurant in Airdrie will be taking the reigns, cooking up a gourmet meal of early summer finds, roast chicken, grilled pork sausage, and fine Dancing Goats cheese all sourced from within 100 km of the mill! There will be a cash bar featuring local brews, the wool shop will be open, and the mill will be accessible for viewing. After dinner, we'll get the bonfire going and musician Ruth Purves-Smith will kick things off. Camping is available on site this year so folks can bring a tent and a musical instrument and settle in for the evening. For those who camp, we'll have a simple and delicious breakfast available in the morning. What more could one want in a summer solstice party!
Tickets are required and available for purchase in advance through Eventbrite.
